Day 176 - Big walk

We decided to do one of our walks again, because there was so much to see, and we got last last time, so this time we can go the right way!

Then in the evening we went to Butser Farm for a Saxon storytelling evening with a nice glass of mead!

On the trail and heading into the farm!

Lots of lovely moos!

Mushroom!

A shot of the farm yard!

Close up shot of barbed wire.

A big mummy piggy!

There's a pond near the pigs which has all this lovely green algae on the top.

A long shot up the hill.

Another mushroom.

Wood pile!

This is, or was, a flat round workstation for fitting metal tires on to wooden wheels. Now a commemorative display in the village.

This had fallen off an Oak tree, we thought it was a disease on the leaf, but it turns out these are Gal Wasp eggs. Weird!

The next images are from the Saxon evening:

Here we have the Saxon's chatting and getting ready.

The stories begin!

We also had the tale of Beowulf (or a small section of it).

Here Beowulf attacks Grendel!

A shot of the roundhouse while we have an interval.

Slightly closer.

Next we had music and singing.

A group of musicians.

Then we finished on a big drum finale!

Which the drummer totally loved, he was well into it!
